Weihenstephan convinces the jury in London at the International Beer Challenge 2015

More than 630 beers from 30 countries entered the competition, which was judged by UK beer experts including retailers, importers, publicans, brewers, writers and flavour analysts, as well as highly experienced judges from continental Europe to give a comprehensive spread of tasting experience.

The Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan is proud to have been blessed with three medals: The “Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier” (the flagship of the world’s oldest brewery) impressed the highly esteemed jury with its refreshing banana flavor as well as with its smooth yeast taste and won one of the rare gold medals. Furthermore the “Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel” (a full bodied dark wheat beer) and the “Weihenstephaner Vitus” (the breweries Weizenbock with its unique spicy aroma profile) received a bronze medal. These accolades are a particular honour for the master brewers. ,,To carve out a position in this hotly contested market, a premium beer must have a distinctive taste and its own unique character. If we can achieve this with our beers, we’re proud and happy”, affirms Mario Schäfer, Technical Director of the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan.
