The Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier is beating the records and has achieved the gold medal at the AIBA’s again as well as the Major Trophy “Consistency of Excellence”.

Weihenstephaner - bestes bayerisches Bier

For the fourth year in succession, Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier has scooped gold at the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) in Melbourne. For this exceptional performance and consistent high quality, the Kristallweissbier was presented with its second Major Trophy in succession in the “Consistency of Excellence” category.

Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier and AIBA can look back on a long history of shared success. The pellucid, lightly carbonated golden Kristallweissbier has received accolades at AIBA every year since 2005; in fact, 2018 is the fourth year in succession that the brewery has won Gold in the “German Style Kristal” category! The jury of international experts was won over by the fresh, citrussy note and harmonious character of Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier.

But the Kristallweissbier was not the only Weihenstephan product to receive high honours. Our Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, Dark Hefeweissbier and Vitus Weizenbock were all crowned with Silver medals, while the Original Helles, Original Helles Alcohol-Free, Korbinian Doppelbock and Pils went away with Bronze.

“We’re delighted to have won so many medals at AIBA, which are a very gratifying sign of recognition for our brewers’ achievements and confirm our focus on top quality”, says Tobias Zollo, Head Brewmaster at the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan.

AIBA was first held as an international competition 26 years ago, with the aim of introducing the general public to the enormous variety of different beers and flavours available. Today AIBA is the largest annual beer competition in the world and this year attracted a record number of entries from all over the world, with a total of 2187 different beers.
