At the World Beer Awards, which took place in London on 8 August, the wheat beers of the State Brewery were especially successful. Silver medals went to the natural cloudy Hefeweißbier, the Hefeweißbier Dunkel and the Weizenbock Vitus. Gold, which means the award for one of the best of its kind, went to Kristallweißbier from Weihenstephan.
This means the Kristallweißbier continues its triumphant success at beer competitions around the world. Since 2017 alone, it is the fifth gold medal, and these medals are complemented by numerous additional distinctions in the form of silver medals and special awards. With its fresh citrus flavor and spicy banana notes, the Kristallweißbier is simply something special – and that has been confirmed by juries around the world year after year. But also the other three medal winners can look back on a successful track record: the beers have also been awarded medals annually in the past years.
At the International Beer Challenge, which also took place in London, three additional medals went to the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan. The Hefeweißbier and Weizenbock Vitus were awarded silver, while bronze went to the Hefeweißbier Dunkel.
“We are thrilled when our beers are so successful throughout the world year after year“, commented Brewery Master Philippe Copien, who was very pleased with the results. “It is a confirmation of the excellent work performed here at the Weihenstephan brewery. And that is something to be proud of.“
