Truly a golden autumn for the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan! The Weihenstephaner Wheat Beer, the wheat beer bock Vitus, the non-alcoholic Wheat Beer and the double-bock Korbinian achieved sensational success at the World Beer Awards in London.
The Weihenstephaner Wheat Beer, an unfiltered wheat beer with a rich flavour and fine head, was chosen as Germany’s best Wheat Beer in the category „Bavarian Hefeweiss“ and received the gold medal. The jury remarked on the notes of orange and coriander and full-bodied flavour of the Weihenstephaner Vitus and confirmed their praise with the title of „Germany’s Best Strong Wheat Beer“. The fruity, malty aromatics of the dark Korbinian completed the hat-trick, with the award of „Germany’s Best Lager Bock“. A bronze medal went to the refreshing Weihenstephaner non-alcoholic Wheat Beer in the category of „Alcohol Free Wheat Beer“, likewise placing it among Germany’s finest beers.
Tobias Zollo, first master brewer, is particularly proud of the array of awards: „It’s a fantastic confirmation of the skills of our team. We brew our beers using only the finest natural raw materials, regionally sourced, and bring enthusiasm and pleasure to our work. This skill and dedication can be tasted – and that delights us all the more.“
