Sensational - Weihenstephan conquered at the World Beer Cup and at the Australian International Beer Awards

The award ceremony of the European winners was held on 30 May 2016 at the traditional Hofbräuhaus München.

The World Beer Cup is the most prestigious beer competition in the world and takes place every two years during the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America. This edition of the World Beer Cup saw 6.596 beers from 1.907 breweries representing 55 countries – 38.5 percent increase in the number of entries from the 2014 World Beer Cup, which had 4.754 entries. A highly qualified professional panel of 253 beer judges from 31 countries honors the top three beers in 96 beer style categories with gold, silver, and bronze awards.

The Weihenstephaner Wheat Beer won gold in the category „South German-Style Hefeweizen” and the Weihenstephaner Crystal Wheat Beer received a silver medal in the category „German-Style Wheat Ale”. The award ceremony of the European winners was held on 30 May 2016 at the traditional Hofbräuhaus München.

Conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) is the largest annual competition of its kind in the world. Renowned for showcasing the highest quality beer and for celebrating brewing excellence in Australia and around the world, the AIBA is accessible to brewers and breweries of all sizes. This year, the AIBA received a record 1,560 entries from more than 294 brewers in 31 countries and a total of 25 Champion and Major Trophies were presented.

The Weihenstephaner Crystal Wheat Beer convinced the judges with it´s outstanding balance of taste, aroma and appearance and won a gold medal in the category „German Style Kristal“ as well as the title “Best Wheat Beer”. The other top prizes winners were the Weihenstephaner Wheat Beer (Gold in the category „German Style Hefe“) and the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dark (Silver in the category „German Style Dunkel“).
