Gold for the Weizenbock Vitus, Silver for the Kristallweißbier: the two beer specialties shone again at the European Beer Star. This cements their place as the brewery's most awarded beers.
At the end of November, many breweries always look towards Nuremberg, where the European Beer Star is awarded every year at the Brau Beviale. And anyone who wins an award there can be particularly pleased - after all, the EBS is considered to be highly prestigious.
Weihenstephaner Kristallweißbier won Silver in the South German-Style Kristallweizen category. This speciality beer is characterized by a pleasantly tangy taste, a hint of banana and a clear appearance in the glass. A brief look behind the scenes at Weihenstephan: Abroad, the beer is mainly consumed in the USA and Australia, in Germany in Baden-Württemberg, most of all.
Weihenstephan's golden boy Vitus also struck again: After winning Gold in 2023, our wheat bock came out on top again! Vitus, which tastes more like a fruity wheat beer despite its 7.7% abv, impressed with its intense banana notes and high drinkability. A mouthfeel that is second to none - confirmed by the European Beer Star award.
Prof. Dr. Josef Schrädler, Director of the brewery, was more than satisfied with the results: “These two specialty beers have not only been top notch at beer competitions around the world for years, but also with the fans, who continue to demand them.” Confirmation by the jury at the European Beer Star was the icing on the cake, explained Dr. Schrädler.
Tobias Zollo, Technical Director and Head Brewmaster, is particularly pleased to see his favorite beer once again adorned with gold: “Our Vitus is unique.” Of course, he says with a smile on his face, “all our beers are special” - but the Weizenbock simply stands out. He shares this success with his team, as it is above all “our brewers who work hard every day to deliver the highest quality”. And now, Zollo said, they had succeeded once again.
